Youngjib Ham

Dr. Ham received B.S. (cum laude) and M.S. degrees from Seoul National University in 2009 and 2011, respectively; and M.S. in Computer Science and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Before joining Texas A&M University, he was an Assistant Professor in The Moss School of Construction, Infrastructure and Sustainability at Florida International University (2015-2017).

Dr. Ham’s interests are to build and manage smart cities including infrastructure systems and buildings through smart construction and management. He conducts basic research in areas that include sensing and data analytics (AI, data science), information modeling/visualization and simulation (digital twin, VR), and human-robot interfaces, in the context of infrastructure/construction management and building science. He applies this research to projects that include teleoperation in construction workplaces (automation in construction), AI-driven disaster risk prediction (e.g., hurricanes, pandemics), smart city digital twin for vulnerable populations (e.g., older adults) and regions (e.g., coastal communities), smart building, and cyber-physical systems (CPS) for improving STEM education.
