In addition to the university graduate admission requirements, the Master of Architecture career change program requires the following.
Minimum Education
Recipients of any bachelor’s degree, other than a pre-professional degree in architecture or environmental design, may apply for admission to the Career Change program. The Career Change program enables students who hold degrees in fields other than architecture to enter the Master of Architecture program.
All students who are accepted are recommended to enter the program with sufficient preparation in math and physics — algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and basic physics.
Admitted applicants who are still earning the prerequisite degree are admitted contingent on the completion of that degree. Applicants who do not meet this contingency must reapply after graduation.
Résumé
Résumés should include your employment history, educational record, publications, awards, and any community/volunteer experiences you may have. Please upload your résumé to the Texas A&M GradCas System.
Statement of Purpose
Your statement of purpose should clearly demonstrate your interest in the program. Statements of purpose are used to gauge whether an applicant will be a good fit in the program based on research interests and prior experiences.
References
You should provide three letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with your academic achievement and potential. If you have been out of school for a number of years and are unable to contact former professors, you may submit non-academic references (e.g., employers).

Samples of Creative Work (optional)
Samples of creative work, or portfolio, displaying your creative abilities and/or interest in architecture is optional and may include:
- Reproductions of drawings, artwork, or other examples of ability for graphic expression
- Articles, essays, or papers prepared on design or environmental topics
- Illustrations from your work experience in architecture or related fields
- Samples of forms of creative work or expression, including, but not limited to, composed music, dance, woodworking, fabrication, digital modeling, or crafting
