Reimagining Project Management

March 30–21

Texas A&M Department of Construction Science, in partnership with the Project Production Institute, is offering Project Production Management education and certification in Reimagining Project Management. This program enables participants to understand the benefits of adopting modern construction, its methods and technologies, and its underlying scientific principles.

Who Should Attend

The program will benefit anyone involved in the delivery of capital projects working for owners, contractors or suppliers.

Course Overview

To improve capital project predictably and competitiveness without compromising quality and safety, owners are looking for better ways to develop and execute projects. This includes moving work offsite, employing “factory models”, harnessing automation, productizing/ standardizing and enabling work through digital technologies.

Known as “Modern Construction,” these strategies can deliver significant benefit, but not with the current, outdated project management framework that focuses on administration and ignores production – the very element that creates value, resulting in a significant gap.

Simply put, the stage gate approach coupled with “best practices” such as critical path scheduling, earned value management and advanced work packaging are not delivering sustainable results. Project management must be reimagined.

Modern construction requires a fresh approach grounded in a deep understanding of production and its key elements: product, process design, resource use and variability that are the focus of Operations Science. The ability to effectively deploy the emerging practices of modern construction using the Operations Science framework and Project Production Management methods results in significant cost and schedule reductions, eliminates overruns, and reduces risk of EH&S incidents.

So that owners and contractors can benefit from these emerging practices and technologies, Texas A&M’s Construction Sciences Department, in partnership with the Project Production Institute, is offering education and certification in Project Production Management (PPM) and its enabling digital technologies. The investment for this two-day course is $1,500 exclusive of travel, hotel, and food.

Our credentialing partner, the Office of Continuing and Professional Education, establishes and maintains the standards for our programs from development to delivery. This includes ensuring that training programs comply and/or exceed criteria under the IACET Standard.

Are the continuing education credits issued by COSC recognized by my organization?

Most organizations accept continuing education credits provided by institutions of higher education and institutions accredited by the IACET. If your organization has any questions, please have them contact our office.

Are your courses online?

Some of our courses are offered online. Our course offerings list the course, date, time, and format of our classes. We use the Canvas Learning Management System to conduct our classes.

We use Zoom for video conferencing and webinars. Zoom links are emailed to the learners prior to the first course session.

How do I know when education opportunities or classes will occur?

We post our courses this page as they are planned and scheduled.

If I sign up for a series of classes, do I have to take the courses in a particular order?

Several of our courses are taught in a sequence that will require the learner to take the courses in the order published. This is because the educational content builds on prior course material. If taking the classes in order is a requirement, it will be noted on the registration page.

How do I receive my certificate of completion for the course I have taken?

Your certificate of completion will be emailed to you when you successfully complete the requirements for the course. You can also access your certificates in the Canvas dashboard. Click completed to see a list of all your completed courses at Texas A&M University. Click download next to each course to download the certificate.

If I cannot attend a course I have signed up for, may I receive a refund?

We understand that there may be instances of learner cancellations. Our refund policy allows for a full refund (minus the cost of learner materials) for course fees up to five days in advance of the scheduled start date of the course. If a cancellation occurs within five days prior to the start of the course, the Continuing Education Department will issue a course credit for the course fee to be used for the same or a different course. The credit is valid for one calendar year from the date of the cancellation.
