Every year LAUP students plan and host events to give students opportunities to network with industry professionals. Register for the Career Fair or Aggie Workshop, or both!

Career Fair: February 17, 2023, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Reed Arena Ballrooms

Aggie Workshop: February 16, 2023, 8:30 a.m. — 6:30 p.m. at the AgriLife Center

Career Fair

LAUP’s Career Fair is a rewarding experience for students and employers. In the morning, students can visit booths for various firms. In the afternoon, firms hold one-on-one interviews with students they think might be a good fit with their team. This networking event connects employers with fresh talent and leads to job placement after graduation.

Portfolio Reviews

Make a great first impression by showing your work well. A board of professors and industry professionals are available to review and critique your portfolio. Students have the opportunity to make changes before meeting with firms at the career fair.

Dates for our next faculty and industry professional portfolio reviews are to be determined.

Aggie Workshop

Networking isn’t all about interviews. The Aggie Workshop brings together industry professionals, faculty and students to address real problems. Our discussions are guided by a keynote speaker and a panel of thought leaders. A collaborative charrette follows where participants break off into groups to form solutions to the topic at hand. The Aggie Workshop will be held at Texas A&M AgriLife Center.

Aggie Workshop costs $30 for BLA/MLA students and $25 for faculty and other majors.

The next Aggie Workshop will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

The Spirit of Place

Our 2023 Aggie Workshop theme is “The Spirit of Place” Spirit of place (or soul) refers to the unique, distinctive and cherished aspects of a place. As designers, it is important to pay attention to the tangible (buildings, sites, landscapes, routes, objects) and the intangible elements (memories, narratives, written documents, rituals, festivals, traditional knowledge, values, textures, colors, odors, etc.), that is to say the physical and the spiritual elements that give meaning, value, emotion and mystery to place.

5:00 – 6:30 p.m.	Reception	Exhibit of sketches from the sketch crawl and reception. Located at the Leach Teaching Gardens Pavilion.

Attend as a Professional

Aggie Workshop will be hosting a design charrette which gives firms/vendors the opportunity to lead and teach students hands-on. This also gives the students the opportunity to showcase to professionals their design skills.
