Jeffrey S. Kent
Biography
Jeffrey S. Kent was born outside of Columbus Ohio and raised on a large farm with the values of hard work, family, and giving back. He received a Bachelor of Environmental Design in 1975 from Texas A&M University. He returned to Columbus and became dedicated to real estate development, design and construction of major multi-use commercial, retail, and multi-family projects across the Midwest. While in Columbus, he renewed his interest in the care of handicapped children by joining the BoD of Easterseals of Central & Southeast Ohio.
In 1998, he was asked by SwedishAmerican Health System to join them to lead them in a 10-year $300M project to renovate the main campus and expand services throughout the systems service area. The project was a tremendous success as it modernized an aging campus dating back to 1918, moved a major city street allowing increased parking and traffic flow, brought physician offices back to campus and built a new Heart Hospital.
In 2006, the Nemours Children’s Health System engaged Jeff come to Nemours to build a Enterprise-wide expansion that turned out to touch all parts of the Nemours enterprise with a $1.5B project that included building a new Children’s Hospital in Orlando Florida, modernizing and expanding an outdated hospital in Delaware, expand the Nemours delivery system in all markets. These projects were all are recognized by the Nemours patients, staff, and care givers as a special place to deliver and receive the best children’s healthcare and received many national awards.
Jeff has enjoyed for many years being asked by various professors at the Texas A&M University School of Architecture to bring projects and lectures to the studios.
Today, Jeff has retired from Nemours and is the President of the Association of Medical Facility Professionals – a non-for-profit hub where the healthcare-built environment leaders share ideas, gain knowledge, solve challenges, connect with peers, and shape the future of the industry.
