{"id":549,"date":"2021-07-16T16:02:51","date_gmt":"2021-07-16T21:02:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arch.tamu.edu.staging2.juiceboxint.com\/arch\/news\/2021\/07\/charter-school-students-learn-basics-of-college-disciplines-2\/"},"modified":"2022-06-28T13:55:34","modified_gmt":"2022-06-28T18:55:34","slug":"charter-school-students-learn-basics-of-college-disciplines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arch.tamu.edu.staging2.juiceboxint.com\/arch\/news\/2021\/07\/charter-school-students-learn-basics-of-college-disciplines\/","title":{"rendered":"Charter school students learn basics of college disciplines"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Students at the Brazos School of Inquiry and Creativity, a charter school in Bryan, had a high-tech, hands-on introduction to the basics of several College of Architecture disciplines in four sessions in June.<\/p>\n<p>They used an augmented reality app to build a LEGO structure and created a 3-D model with photogrammetry, a technique to digitally render models from photographs.<\/p>\n<p>The students also learned how cities\u2019 social and economic development is affected by the placement of city resources, the many ways small businesses enhance cities, and more.<\/p>\n<p>The sessions were led by college faculty Deidra Davis, Cecilia Giusti, Robert Warden, and Wei Yan.<\/p>\n<p>The event was part of a continuing collaboration with the Brazos School, the college\u2019s four departments, and Texas Target Communities.
